(1) Digitalization: The application of digital printing technology in the packaging and printing industry is steadily expanding. Digital printing offers significant advantages such as high flexibility, the ability to deliver personalized customization, and short production cycles, making it well-suited to meet market demands for small-batch, diversified products. As a result, more and more packaging and printing companies are adopting digital printing equipment to enhance their productivity and competitiveness.
(2) Automation and Intelligent Technologies: The use of automated equipment and intelligent production systems in the packaging and printing industry is steadily increasing.
Automated production lines can boost productivity, cut labor costs, and minimize errors, helping companies enhance both product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Intelligent manufacturing will be the future trend in the packaging and printing industry. By integrating technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things, companies can achieve smart management and control of their production processes. Incorporating AI and machine learning into workflow solutions will further enhance automation and efficiency across the entire printing production process. Moreover, intelligent manufacturing enables remote monitoring and operation, helping businesses improve their production management capabilities and better respond to unexpected disruptions.

As artificial intelligence becomes more accurate, sophisticated, and user-friendly, this versatile technology will unlock possibilities and outcomes that are currently beyond our understanding—or even imagination.
Currently, one of the areas where we’re already seeing AI make a significant impact is design—more and more designs are being created with AI assistance. As a result, both the content and forms of these creations are set to experience explosive growth. Meanwhile, creators who don’t leverage AI in their design processes risk losing customers altogether. Looking ahead, people will increasingly rely on AI-powered assistants to manage sales channels, craft product descriptions, handle online sales, oversee production, provide after-sales support—and essentially streamline virtually every aspect of business operations that can benefit from machine learning.
In terms of green environmental protection and low carbon practices
The continuous strengthening of environmental policies will drive the packaging and printing industry toward greener, more sustainable practices. As countries impose increasingly stringent environmental regulations on packaging and printing companies, and as consumers become more environmentally conscious, the industry is stepping up its efforts to develop and implement eco-friendly technologies. Today, the sector widely adopts environmentally friendly materials, water-based inks, and biodegradable options to minimize its ecological footprint. At the same time, energy-efficient production equipment and processes are gaining attention from businesses eager to reduce their carbon emissions and resource consumption. To meet rising environmental standards, companies must ramp up investment in R&D for green technologies and materials, embracing recyclable and biodegradable alternatives while striving to cut waste generation at every stage of production.
As consumer awareness of green and environmentally friendly products continues to grow, eco-friendly packaging is set to become the market mainstream.
In 2023, the China Packaging Federation, in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Standardization and the CCID Research Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, jointly released the "2023 Packaging Blue Book," which provides a comprehensive overview of the green development progress within the packaging industry, sharing practical examples and lessons learned in driving eco-friendly, low-carbon initiatives. To further promote sustainable and green growth in the sector, last December the Federation submitted two national standard project proposals—titled "Green Product Evaluation Requirements for Packaging Products" and "Quantification Method for Product Carbon Footprint in Packaging"—to the National Standardization Administration Committee. These initiatives underscore the China Packaging Federation's commitment to guiding the industry toward a greener future and its proactive efforts to implement a robust sustainability strategy.
In recent years, the country has introduced numerous policies and regulations aimed at "green, low-carbon, and circular development." These policies not only pose greater and higher demands on the packaging industry's green transformation but also present both challenges and opportunities.
